Earlier this year Carry returned to South America to explore the natural fibres that are grown for the fashion industry. She has produced an illustrated dictionary full of her research findings containing beautiful illustrations and fascinating history to many of the plants. Who knew that Avocado stones can make a Pink Dye? Or that Agave has fibre rich leaves that are discarded when used to make Mezcal, local artisans have started to utilise this waste product. The publication has many tales of artisans and locals making circular or sustainable futures for many of these ancient fibres.
It is a treasure trove of geography, science, economy and importantly highlights methods of sustainability for fashion.
