This term (Autumn 24), former Colyton student Paul Drayton (OSC2000) returned to the school to give a talk on his career in engineering.
Paul’s ‘From Ice Cream to Submarines’ – The Journey of an Engineer’ was a fantastic talk, giving an interesting account of his journey all of the way from Colyton, via Bath University to a wide range of companies, including Babcock, BAE Systems, and Laing O’Rourke.
He provided a really useful insight into the nature of engineering, across a range of disciplines and industries, and the hugely fulfilling career that is available. Over 80 students attended the talk, so it appears that the future of engineering is alive and well at Colyton Grammar School.
