First Interview Prep Day 2019

Our first 'Interview prep ' day for year 13 was held on October 17th, with over 13 volunteers assisting with this fantastic events.
Over 100 interviews were held for year 13 students

On a blustery October day, the Year 13 students attended an assembly from head boy in 1970-71 Rob Young (pictured in photo gallery). Rob now has his own recruitment company and assisted with our interviews after his enlightening assembly on 'attending an interview'.

We had engineers, recruitment professionals, Directors, business professionals, HR professionals, Health Professionals, armed forces, and entrepreneurs assisting on the day. The aim of the day was to provide Year 13 students with a 'mock interview' for a job/university, students had to prepare their C.V and arrive promptly at their appointment time. Our interviewers had a set of generic questions to ask the students, with a chance to discuss specialist subjects, the interview was for 15 minutes and then followed by 5 minutes of constructive feedback. It served as a great opportunity to put into action the pointers the students received in Year 12 at our careers ‘Head Start’ day in July.

Students responded well to this experience, with many constructive follow up comments to ensure our student have the best opportunity to fulfil their potential and ambitions.

We are extremely pleased that our first ever ‘Interview prep day’ ran so well, it would not have been possible to do this without our wonderful Colytonian Society assistance, alumni and parents gave up 50 hours combined on this day to carry our this event. We are extremely grateful for all the support they offered our students here at Colyton Grammar School.
