On Friday 30th June our Year 13 students returned to school for their Celebration of Achievement, a chance for us all to celebrate their journey at Colyton Grammar School. Students, parents, grandparents, school staff and VIPs made up over 300 guests.

Students were welcomed by Mr Harris, who reflected how this year group joined the school the same year he did and how their time at Colyton Grammar School is in fact just the beginning of their journey through life.

Julie Hawker MBE, alumnus and local businesswoman, was our keynote speaker. Julie started her speech with a poignant reflection of the late Mr Fox, her headteacher from her time at school. She highlighted that her career has been driven by serving her county, influencing national policy around digital availability, and the rewards of running a not-for-profit organisation.

Students then received a pair of Colyton socks, a small memento and a chance for them to share their next steps with us.

Guests proceeded to Cottrill Hall where they were welcomed by refreshments and music from lower school flute and piano musicians. The hall was full of chatter and laughter; it was a great opportunity for parents to meet with teachers and to say thank you.

Class of 2023, we wish you all the very best for your future and welcome you as our youngest members of the Old Colytonian Society!
