Raising Our Game

Our Vision is to transform the sporting experience of our students with modern facilities, in line with our strategy.  There is an urgent need to enhance our sporting facilities  by providing our school and community with a replacement Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) with new LED lighting. This is a valued piece of our campus and is currently used by 1030 students at our school, 8 local primary schools and 11 community sports clubs, not to mention matches with visiting schools.

The pitch offers the chance to play: football, tennis, mini tennis, tag rugby, 5-a-side football, netball, hockey and basketball. All users benefit from the physical and mental benefits of exercising on this pitch, however it is now 15 years old and in need of upgrading.

Over the last 18 months we’ve seen how fresh air and exercise has been a staple at maintaining our physical and mental health. Covid-19 has made us more aware of the need for outside exercise space here at school and within our community.  A quality, modern facility is urgently needed.

Our students will benefit from not only using the new pitch with the correct lighting levels, but will also benefit from physical wellbeing, as well as individual wellbeing (developing personal sport skills).

Our students take academic achievements very seriously but this is not the whole story - as a school we are committed to ensuring our students are well-rounded with open access to sports, extra-curricular, music and drama and other activities. The balance of challenge and wellbeing is very important to us, so much so we:

-built a new wellbeing centre dedicated to this in 2018;

A modern safe pitch for the students to use at lunchtime is an essential part of this wellbeing provision.

We want to deliver this new pitch and lighting in August 2022, we need our communities help to make this happen. To support this project please visit this link. We are grateful for every level of support and through working together we can transform the sports facilties at Colyton Grammar School Academy Trust.
